Who We Are
Women Physician Entrepreneurs of Houston (WPEH) is a local network of women doctors who own and operate private medical practices. We formed in 2024 with a simple goal: create a space where independent women physicians can connect, share real-world advice, and strengthen each other’s success in business and medicine.
This isn’t a traditional medical association. We’re a community of practice owners who understand what it means to manage staff, deal with insurance, serve patients, and build something of our own all at the same time.
Our members span a wide range of specialties: internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, OB/GYN, dermatology, urgent care, and more. What unites us isn’t the field we’re in, it’s that we run our own practices. We’re in charge of how we work, who we treat, and how we grow.
That independence comes with challenges. From compliance to payroll, referrals to marketing, private practice isn’t easy. But it’s worth it. And having a trusted group of fellow doctors to turn to makes it even more possible.
Why We Exist
Built for Women Physicians Who Lead Their Own Way
WPEH was created to fill a gap. Most medical organizations are structured around hospitals, large employers, or national agendas. We wanted something local, practical, and relevant to the day-to-day realities of private practice. A place for physicians managing schedules, balancing operations, and making clinical decisions without layers of oversight.
Our members are focused on growth, not noise. Some are expanding their teams, some are refining systems, others are working through challenges that come with scale. WPEH offers a space to talk through those issues with people who understand what it takes. No posturing, no gatekeeping—just real conversation among peers who are doing the work.

We currently have more than 130 members. About 45 are active, paid members listed in our public directory. That number is growing, and we expect it to keep growing as more physicians take the leap into private practice.
The WPEH directory is designed to help patients and other providers find the right doctor. You can search by specialty, location, and insurance. Each listing links directly to that physician’s website, so the connection is immediate and direct.
What We Offer
WPEH offers more than a listing. We host meetups, workshops, and group discussions. Some are casual. Others are deep dives into business topics that often get ignored—like negotiating leases, evaluating EMRs, or improving patient retention.
Our goal isn’t just to connect. It’s to help each other grow.

We don’t stay behind the scenes. Many of our members are featured in news stories, speak at events, or lead health-focused initiatives in Houston. The Events & Media section of our website highlights those moments, because our voices matter not just in exam rooms, but in the public conversation too.
WPEH is committed to helping women in private practice thrive. We believe independence and visibility go hand in hand. When patients know who we are and how to find us, they get better care. And we get to lead with confidence.
